SERDANG, UPM- KOSASS Agricultural Action Project Club (PGTK), Volunteer and Green Technology Secretariat, College Representative Council (MPK), Session 2023/2024 in collaboration with the Student Union, Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Putra Agricultural Center (PPP) and Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah College Management has organized PGTK Gempur Community @ Pasir Gudang on 27 April 2024 (Saturday).
According to PGTK club chairman Sister Nurul Iffah Nuriyyah, the Taman Mawar community garden in Pasir Gudang was chosen by PGTK Club for this program because of its outstanding performance in a short period of time. In a few months, the garden has achieved incredible success with impressive product sales and managed to expand the area of the garden to five times its original size. In addition, Pasir Gudang Community Garden is also a dynamic leading agent that empowers governance towards delivering good services in order to meet customer demands. The community's activity in growing various types of vegetables using hydroponic and aquaponic methods is also a determining factor in this selection. The success of Taman Mawar Community Garden is an inspiration that should be emulated by PGTK Club members.
This program has given exposure and knowledge in the field of agriculture. Involvement in community work has given exposure to various aspects such as tree planting, seed sowing, composting and the use of organic poisons which have led participants to gain a deeper understanding. They also learned the technique of transplanting chili trees and eggplant trees into the soil, as well as the production of organic poisons to reduce the use of chemicals. Therefore, the knowledge gained will not only be useful in PGTK garden work but can also be applied in everyday life at home.
Sister Nurul Iffah Nuriyyah also wishes that this collaboration can continue in the future. He hoped that this program would become a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge in the field of agriculture, thus helping to advance the activities of this agricultural club. In addition, the experience of the participants in this program can be used as an asset to advance the club and help in fulfilling the shared responsibility in advancing the agricultural sector as the slogan, "Agriculture for the People".
