SERDANG, UPM - The Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah College (KOSASS) B rugby team has successfully clinched the title in the Universiti Putra Malaysia College Sports Championship (SUKPRA) for 15's Rugby after successfully defeating the opponent, Chancellor College in the final round. This match was held on 29 May 2024 (Wednesday) at 5.00 pm at Rugby Field B, UPM.
Undeniable prowess has proven their ability in this event since the beginning of the tournament. The results obtained always put the KOSASS team in an excellent position. For information, KOSASS has sent two teams, namely KOSASS A and KOSASS B, each of which consists of 20 players who give full focus in training that lasts for 2 weeks located at Rugby Field B. Overall, KOSASS A managed to Semi-Final by winning matches against Kolej 12 and Kolej Mustafa Babjee while KOSASS B won big against Kolej 14, Kolej Pende Zaaba, Kolej Sepuluh B, Kolej Sepuluh A and finally, Kolej Kanselor. The prize giving ceremony for Rugby 15's was completed by Mr. Muhammad Bazli Bin Kamaruddin, Administrative Officer, UPM Sports Academy.
This success also could not be achieved without the coach who is always committed in providing support and encouragement to the players, namely Mr. Abdul Wahid bin Saharudin who is the backbone and important person for the KOSASS rugby team. He diligently manages the strategy and ensures that the players undergo 'fitness' training which will surely yield good results with this big win.
According to brother Muhammad Aqil Iqbal bin Mohd Jamil, as the Sports and Recreation Secretariat, College Representative Council (MPK), KOSASS, he expressed a sense of pride for the seriousness as well as outstanding achievements that have been highlighted by the players who have proven that KOSASS collegiates have talent and passion extraordinary in the field of sports. He hopes that this excellence will be a catalyst for all collegiates to venture into the field of sports in parallel with academics so that this momentum can continue in the future.
Well done and congratulations to both KOSASS rugby teams who managed to get excellent results in this competition. Hopefully this success can attract more KOSASS collegiates to get involved in rugby and further develop the rugby industry in Malaysia.
